Mirroring while traveling

Staying in random apartments while traveling has turned screen mirroring into a guessing game for me. Sometimes the TV has AirPlay, sometimes it’s some brand I’ve never even heard of, and other times it refuses to connect at all. Last week in Lisbon I tried to watch a show from my phone, and the TV kept dropping the connection every couple of minutes. Do you rely on a specific app or carry some kind of backup solution so you’re not stuck watching everything on a tiny screen?

Traveling has put me in that situation a bunch of times, especially in places where every apartment uses a completely different smart TV system. I stopped depending on whatever built-in casting they offer and switched to an app I first downloaded for iOS to TV screen casting . It’s been surprisingly reliable on unfamiliar TVs as long as they let you connect to the Wi-Fi. I’ve used it in Airbnbs, hotels, even a place with some off-brand TV, and it still connected without weird delays or resets. I also keep a small HDMI adapter in my bag just in case the Wi-Fi is awful.
